The bootcamp consists of russian keetlebelt training, plyometrics, cardio and strength exercises. Our instructor Camila Silva will be teaching the program and she is one of the few certified instructors to teach Keetlebelt . Congratulations to Joe”The Deal” Heink for displaying outstanding jiujitsu technique to finish a brown belt in the XFC event this past weekend, he has been doing great in competition and it was time to get promoted. Watch the video of his last MMA fight and the surprise promotion.

Derek Sheffer VS Mark Tyler
Team Highlander/Popovitch Derek Sheffer made quick work to finish with an arm lock from the mount in the 1st round.
Johnny Cardonna VS Nate Jolly
Next was Johnny Cardonna, after a quick right hand Johnny almost KO Nate Jolly in the 1st round, it was a really good matched fight. After a couple exchanges, Nate Jolly won the 1st round. Johnny came back strong and dominated round 2. On the 3rd round Johnny was winning but after attempting a leg lock, he got caught up in a bad position, unable to recover lost by referee stoppage. Great Fight and it was probably the fight of the night. A lot of action and both fighters displayed tremendous heart.
Joe Heink Vs Scott Porter
Joe made quick work to take Scott Porter down, pass his guard and almost submit him with an arm bar, after a good scramble they were back on their feet. After a quick exchange Joe got the KO with fast combinations of jabs and crosses. Also Joe was awarded his brown belt from Team Popovitch/ Highlander Mike Yanez.

Johnny is set to fight his first Professional Mixed Martial Arts( MMA) fight, he trained hard and he is ready for the challenge. Not only he will be fighting an experience fighter but also Nate Jolly has a solid wrestling background, making this match up one of the best of the night.

UFC stars Hermez Franca and Jeremy Stephens are back training with us. This morning we had about 30 minutes of jiujitsu matches and it was a great training session. Jeremy Stephens will likely collide with The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 8 lightweight winner, Efrain Escudero (11-0), at UFC Fight Night 18 on April 1. We need to work on his wreslting and BJJ game a lot, Efrain is a good wrestler/ bjj guy.
Also Vagner Rocha and James Brasco have to get ready for their ADCC North American Trials in May, Cyborg has the Pan American Jiu-Jitsu Championship in mind. I still have to figure out what tournament I am going to do next, I recently was invited to participate in the Grapplers Quest Pro division in San Diego, but at the moment I am planing on expanding our programs and opening a new location, leaving me little time to travel and compete.
Vagner has been training jiu jitsu with me since he was 16 years old. He is one of my best students and his Mixed Martial Arts(MMA) debut was nothing shorter than greatness. It took him only 1:17 Seconds to take his opponent down ,take his back and finish the fight with a rear naked choke. Since his opponent strength was striking(Kickboxing, Muai Thai), the plan was to take the fight to the ground, control the opponent and finish him with a submission. After attempting a successful double leg take-down I knew that the fight was over, Vagner grappling superiority was too much for his opponent to handle.
Vagner was also awarded the Best Submission of The night.
